Dear CnAHA members and colleagues, As we are heading into the Holiday season, I want to thank you all for all you have done for CnAHA this year.
On behalf of the CnAHA Board, I also want to take this opportunity to make the following announcements:
1) In a recent Board meeting, it was unanimously approved that a new CEO position will be established to better manage the operations of CnAHA. Grace Fu Palma, MBA, is elected as the CEO of CnAHA. Grace received her BA from Beijing University. She completed her MBA at Yale University. She held different marketing management positions at Hewlett Packard Medical Products Group and Philips Healthcare. She was the Vice-President of Marketing and Head of Asia Pacific Business at Terason for the last 4 years. Recently she started her own consulting firm, Bridges Medic Consulting, specializing in marketing and sales channels research and development in medical devices to create bridges between China and the U.S. businesses. Grace was the founding business manager of CnAHA and has been instrumental in the operations of our association and in almost all the initiatives and activities of CnAHA for the last 5 years. She will bring her almost 20 years of business experience and expertise to CnAHA as we move forward with our strategic plans. 2) After careful consideration, I have decided not to seek a consecutive term as the President. First, I believe this is the right thing to do for CnAHA, myself and my loved ones. I believe that CnAHA has grown into a mature and impactful association for the last 5 years, due to the incredible efforts and contributions from each and every one of members. The president of our association is a tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth; and someone else with a vision, talent, skills and dedication deserves an opportunity to serve and lead this great association. This will also allow me to spend more time with my patients, trainees, colleagues and family. I will be able to focus on my clinical, educational, academic, administrative responsibilities as well as on the projects that are long due, such as Ai Xin Gong Cheng to contribute to the care of millions of children with congenital and acquired heart diseases in US, China and worldwide. However, I will work with our new CEO to make sure the CnAHA election (term 2012-2013) goes well and we will have an excellent new leadership team to take over the torch for the next 2 years. Afterwards, I will do all I can when there is a calling from CnAHA.
Last but not least, I want to thank all the CnAHA leaders, members and colleagues for your trust, help and support to me in the last few years. It is truly an honor, privilege and opportunity of a life-time to serve as the President of CnAHA. Happy Holidays!
Cordially yours,
Shuping Ge, MD,
President, Chinese American Heart Association
