Chinese American Heart Association (CnAHA) and Academy of Cardiovascular Research Excellence (ACRE) Newsletter #8-2009
Dear members, colleagues, and friends,
In this first joint Newsletter from CnAHA and ACRE, we are excited to share with you a few highlights in both associations in August of 2009.
1. CnAHA-ACRE Joint Conference during AHA This year we will have a CnAHA-ACRE Conference from 6:30 to 9:00 pm on November 16, 2009 (Monday) in Orlando, FL. You will receive a program soon. The program will include speeches from the Presidents from CnAHA and ACRE, President of Chinese Cardiovascular Society, AHA leadership, etc. We have reserved a total of 100 seats, and the dinner is complimentary. Please RSVP at members@cnaha.org as soon as possible to be sure you have a seat. We believe this will be the best and most productive meeting ever!
2. Distinguished Service Award and Young Investigator Awards (YIA). New for this year, we will present CnAHA Distinguished Service Award and Young Investigator Awards (YIA). Qualification criteria for YIA are 1) Abstracts have been accepted for AHA presentation (either oral or poster); and 2) The presenting authors age (must be the same as the presenting author at AHA conference) is <40 on 11/16/2009. Abstracts will be graded by 4 senior investigators without the knowledge of presenters information. Three prizes (1st, $500, 2nd, $300, 3rd, $200) for CnAHA YIA with a plaque will be presented. This will be a final call for abstract submission. Please e-mail Dr. Jie Cheng at (jiecheng@att.net) with your abstract attached.
3. GWICC 2009 in Beijing The 20th Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology will be held from 10/9-10/13/2009 in Beijing. This year a total of 7 CnAHA members will attending this meeting. The 2 symposiums we are sponsoring are: 1) Evidence-based practices in Cardiology and 2) Cardiovascular Imaging.
4. World Congress of Cardiology 2010 The World Congress of Cardiology 2010 will be held in Beijing (6/16/2010 to 6/19/2010). The abstract deadline has been extended to 9/31/2009. This will be a wonderful opportunity to know more about the state of the art cardiology as well as to visit Beijing.
5. The CnAHA column in Chinese Medical Tribune (CMT)
The second article on the CnAHA column in Chinese Medical Tribune (CMT)() timely addresses the use and misuse of ICD. Dr. Hongsheng Guo is the author (See Attached). The next issue will focus on Heart Transplant in Children. If you would like to contribute, please contact our Secretary Peng Yan at (pengyan@ameritech.net).
