Newsletter #2 (February 1 - 28, 2009)
Dear CnAHA members,
colleagues, and friends,
We want to update you on some
highlights in CnAHA in February of 2009.
1. The new
elected Board and Subcommittee Chairs have had our first
teleconference. We have discussed many strategic plans and
initiatives for the next two years. We are confident that this
group of enthusiastic and highly respected CnAHA members will work
together to represent you and your interest in the US and beyond.
2. Two of the most important items on the agenda are
membership and fund drives to increase our impact and to support the
activities that are vital for our missions. I encourage you to
speak to your colleagues and friends with Chinese origin in your
laboratory, division, department, institution and other various
groups about CnAHA, who we are, and what we do. If they are
willing to become a member of CnAHA, please contact Dr. Huigui Li,
MD, PhD at hli@umphysicians.umn.edu.
Dr. Li will send you a membership directory in the near future.
If you need to contact any of our member in CnAHA for job,
relocation, conference or other help, I hope you will find that you
can always count on our CnAHA members to assist you.
3.
We co-sponsored an advanced course in Cardiology in Hua Shan Hospital
in Shanghai for the 2nd year. Drs. Dali Fan, Huagui Li, Xuedong Shen,
Yuling Hong, Xiao Tong, and Leng Jiang from CnAHA participated in
this successful meeting. We want to thank Dr. Xuedong Shen as
the liaison of this annual event. We look forward to the next
meeting in February 2010.
4. Our next US activity will be the
CnAHA/ACC conference at 5:45 to 9:00 pm at Ming Court on March, 29
(Sunday) in Orlando, FL. Dr. Dali Fan, Vice-President, CnAHA
will Chair the Program Committee. Space is limited up to 40
participants. Please RSVP. Dr. Fan will send you a program soon.
5. The Great Wall International Cardiology
Conference/CnAHA Forum will be held in Beijing from October 9-13,
2009. This will be the 20th anniversary of this world's 4th
largest cardiology conference. The GWICC/CnAHA symposium will
be in an evidence based medicine/case based approach format.
Please let us know your suggestion for a topic/theme of the
symposium, such as arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death, etc.
6. The next two important events will be the
CnAHA/Heart Rhythm Society meeting in Boston in June (Chair: Dr. Li
Zhang, Subcommittee Chair) and CnAHA/American Society of
Echocardiography Conference in DC in June (Chair: Dr. Gongyuan Xie,
Subcommittee Chair). I hope you and your colleagues can come to
these CnAHA events.
7. After the CnAHA/ACC
meeting, we will start working on 2 of our most important agenda
items, the CnAHA/AHA meeting in November 2009; and the collaboration
with Academy of Cardiovascular Research Excellence (ACRE). We
will keep you informed about these important activities. We
would like to hear from you about your ideas and suggestion on these
critical issues.
Thank you for your
continued support and service to CnAHA.
Cordially
yours,
Shuping Ge, MD, FAAP, FACC, FASE President, Chinese
American Heart Association
