Newsletter #1 (January 1-31, 2009)

Dear members and colleagues,

We want to update you on some highlights in CnAHA in January of 2009.

First, we have completed the election of the new Board and Subcommittee Chairs, thanks to the diligent work of our Immediate Past President Leng Jiang, Business Manager Grace Palma, and our enthusiastic members like yourself.  Each Board member and Committee Chair has been chosen to lead initiatives in their area of expertise as well as CnAHA priorities.

Second, our next US activity will be CnAHA/ACC conference on 29 of March, 29 (Sunday) in Orland, FL.  Dr. Dali Fan, VP, CnAHA will Chair the Program Committee.  Please mark your calendar if you plan to attend ACC.  The location and time will be forth coming.  If you know of possible industry sponsorship, please contact Dali or myself, we will be happy to assist you to pursue that.

Third, our next international activity will be the Great Wall International Cardiology Conference/CnAHA Forum in Beijing in October, 2009.  We will start planning before, during and after ACC to send a group of 7 CnAHA delegates to the meeting.  Like the last 2 years, we will co-sponsor a symposium (Evidence-Based Practice in Cardiology in 2007 and Heart Failure in 2008) this year.  If you have ideas about a general topic that will be interesting to a general audience in China, please let us know.

Fourth, we are invited to write articles on cardiovascular topics for Chinese Medical Tribune and 365.  If you have an interest in writing an article or lead an effort to do so in your area of expertise, please contact us.

Finally, I want to remind you to update your membership as permanent member, member, or associate member.  You can contact Dr. Huahui Li, (<hli@umphysicians.umn.edu>), our Director of Memberships, for forms.

We will update our website soon with new information related to CnAHA.

I hope you have a Prosperous and Happy New (Ox) Year.

Cordially yours,

Shuping Ge, MD, FAAP, FACC, FASE

President, Chinese American Heart Association
