Newsletter #3 (March 1 - 31, 2009)

Dear CnAHA members, colleagues, and friends,

We want to update you on some highlights in CnAHA in March of 2009.

1.  We had a successful CnAHA/ACC Conference/Dinner on 3/29/2009 in Orlando, Florida during the annual scientific session of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) . Many members and distinguished guests from ACC, AHA, ASE leadership in the US, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan came to the meeting. We accomplished a lot. Dr. Dali Fan, MD, PhD, Program Chair and Vice-President of CnAHA will update you on the specifics of the meeting. You can also find the photographs and ChAHA introduction speech at our website at www.cnaha.org.

2.  We have confirmed the partnership with the Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology from 10/9/09 to 10/13/09 in Beijing, the 20
th anniversary of this outstanding meeting in China and in the world. We will select 7 members and delegates to the meeting. The CnAHA/GWICC symposium this year will be "Arrhythmia: An Evidence Based Approach". Please send your input, suggestions, and a topic you feel would be interesting to a general audience of cardiologists to Dr. Gong-Yuan Xie, MD, Chair of Committee on Noninvasive Cardiology and CnAHA/GWICC liaison (Xieg@health.missouri.edu).

3. We are working on a CnAHA Young Investigator Award (YIA) in partnership with AHA to award a plaque and a cash prize to the 3 most meritorious abstracts submitted to AHA in basic, clinical and population sciences from a young investigator with Chinese origin. Dr. Jie Cheng, MD, PhD, (jcheng@heart.thi.tmc.edu), Chair of Academic Committee is spearheading this important effort.

4. For our membership drive, you have received updates on our lifetime members, regular members, and associate members from Membership Director, Dr. Huigui Gui Li, MD, PhD. If you think you have benefited from CnAHA and/or CnAHA has benefited from your leadership, enthusiasm, experience and expertise, please inform your colleagues about us. We hope that with your help, support, and leadership, CnAHA will make a bigger impact in cardiovascular science and medicine in the US and China in this difficult time.

Thank you for your continued support and service to CnAHA.

Cordially yours,

Shuping Ge, MD, FAAP, FACC, FASE
President, Chinese American Heart Association
